Privacy Policy

Yorkshire Medical Centre and Laboratory ("Yorkshire Medical Centre," "we," "our," or "us") respects the privacy of patients, website visitors, and people who communicate with our office.

Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, appointment information, insurance or billing information, and information you choose to share when contacting our office or receiving care.

Our website may also collect basic technical information such as browser type, device information, pages visited, and similar usage data needed to operate and secure the website.

How We Use Information

We use information to schedule appointments, provide medical and laboratory services, respond to questions, manage billing and insurance matters, send administrative notices, operate our website, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, and protect the safety and security of our patients, staff, and services.

SMS and Mobile Messaging Privacy

If you provide a mobile phone number and consent to receive text messages, we may use SMS or MMS to send appointment reminders, verification messages, registration or intake notices, office updates, billing or insurance-related administrative notices, and other healthcare service communications. Message frequency varies.

No mobile numbers will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Mobile information collected for SMS communications will be used only to provide, support, secure, and document the messaging services you requested or consented to receive.

Messages may be delivered through service providers such as Meta Platforms and WhatsApp, AWS End User Messaging, AWS Notify, Amazon SNS, Twilio, mobile carriers, and related vendors. These providers may process message data only as needed to deliver messages, maintain security, prevent abuse, support compliance, and provide messaging services to us. They are not authorized by us to use your mobile number or messaging consent information for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

WhatsApp consent is separate from SMS consent. We use WhatsApp only for consented, non-urgent appointment scheduling, reminders, and administrative office communications. Do not send diagnoses, test results, photographs, detailed symptoms, insurance documents, or other sensitive clinical information through WhatsApp. Inbound and outbound WhatsApp text and sender numbers available in the staff inbox are encrypted at rest, available only to authorized clinic staff, normally removed from the staff inbox after 30 days, and are not automatically added to the patient chart. WhatsApp attachments are not downloaded by the portal.

SMS is not intended for urgent or emergency medical needs. Do not send sensitive medical details by text message unless our office specifically instructs you to do so through an approved process. For emergencies, call local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.

When We Share Information

We may share information with healthcare providers, laboratories, pharmacies, insurers, billing services, technology vendors, messaging providers, professional advisors, regulators, or other parties when needed to provide care, operate our office, obtain payment, comply with law, protect rights and safety, or with your consent.

We do not sell patient information. We do not sell, rent, or share SMS opt-in data, SMS consent records, or mobile numbers for third-party or affiliate marketing.

Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No website, email, SMS, or electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We retain information for as long as needed for patient care, business operations, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and recordkeeping.

Your Choices

You may contact us to update your contact information or ask questions about your information. For text messages, you may reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help where two-way messaging is supported. Because inbound replies may not be supported for messages delivered to Bahamas numbers, you may always opt out or request help by calling (242) 394-6701 or emailing [email protected]. After we receive an opt-out, we may send one final confirmation where supported, and then we will stop sending SMS messages to that number unless you opt in again.

Access and Deletion Requests

You may ask us to review, correct, or delete information associated with your website or messaging use by emailing [email protected] or calling (242) 394-6701. We will verify your identity before acting on a request. Some medical, billing, consent, security, and legal records may need to be retained where required for patient care, compliance, fraud prevention, or other lawful purposes.

Our website may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of those websites.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
